How to market a new Website

Radio warehouse has been online since the start of September. We have great knowledge behind us, great products, great prices... we've got it all but how do you get the customers to come and buy. Gees Kevin Costner got the message "Build it and they will come". Im here to tell you that it isnt that easy!

A radio industry person from way back... plenty of industry knowledge but totally new to the whole website deal.

So where do l begin?? I think l am on the right track. Our web designer is great, smart and funky and forward thinking... generation Y (been reading all about that!)... the site has a bit of fun about it. Pretty sure we have the product mix right. And we have the web address right... it reflects what we are about. www.radiowarehouse.com.au A warehouse where you buy radios right?

So now to help people find us... use the right words for the search engines.. that's about as technical as we got about that l think.

What do l do next? Have contacted a lot of people by phone - cold calling is not much fun... much prefer a warm call. Have some interest brewing but the results driven person that l am is impatient for results quickly!!

We've had our first big sale - we were found on the world wide web... out of all the others the customer found his way to us and bought a heap of radios... woo hooo...

Still building lists, working on referrals now to. It's amazing how few existing product testimonals are available... it seems that suppliers just dont ask for them. Come to think of it, in my 3 years of account management, l was probably just as guilty of that as anyone else... l getting much better at it now!

Looking at advertising in some industry magazines and affliated marketing...

Busy building my lists... it's all about building lists... and people opting in....

So it is one big learning curve for me right now!

Off to a marketing workshop - Small business, big Brand... looking forward to it.
